HOW DOES A MAGNETIC SEPARATOR WORK?
Based on the difference in magnetic characteristics of the ore minerals, magnetic separators are used to separate valuable minerals from non-magnetic gangue, such as magnetite from quartz, or magnetic impurities or other valuable minerals from non-magnetic values. Magnetic susceptibility is a characteristic of a magnetic separator that influences its response to a magnetic field. Materials can be classified into two groups based on their magnetic susceptibility: those that are attracted to a magnetic field are termed paramagnetic materials, and those that are repelled by a magnetic field are called diamagnetic materials. Types of Magnetic Separator Dry or wet magnetic separators are available. Permanent or Electro Magnet Magnetic Separator are two types of magnetic separators. Based on the relative magnetic field strength used to achieve separation, magnetic separators for the mineral processing sector are divided into three categories: low, medium, and high intensity.
